One bright and breezy morning, Captain Giggle was walking through Sunnyleaf Forest with his giant floppy hat bouncing on his head.

He loved visiting the forest.

The birds sang funny little songs.

The trees swayed like dancers.

The flowers nodded hello.

But today…

Something strange was happening.

A shiny candy wrapper zoomed past his nose.

WHOOSH!

Then another.

And another.

Captain Giggle blinked.

” he gasped.

He reached up and caught one.

It crinkled in his hand.

“Oh no,” he said.

“This is not a butterfly.”

It was trash.

All around the forest, pieces of paper, wrappers, cups, and empty snack bags were being blown around by the wind.

Some had landed in bushes.

Some were stuck in tree branches.

One juice box was somehow hanging from a squirrel’s tail.

Captain Giggle placed both hands on his hips.

“This,” he declared, “is a job for imagination!”

Just then, his silly hat wobbled.

Whenever Captain Giggle had a big idea, his hat wobbled.

He looked around.

The wrappers fluttered in the wind like tiny silver birds.

Then suddenly—

his imagination sparked.

” he said.

Captain Giggle closed his eyes and imagined the funniest team possible.

With a POP!

Out came The Leaf Sweepers.

Tiny creatures made of leaves, twigs, and flower petals.

They had little twig arms, mossy boots, and giant smiling acorn hats.

” they squeaked.

Captain Giggle pointed dramatically.

“Team!

The Leaf Sweepers scattered everywhere.

Some climbed trees to grab plastic bags.

Some rolled fallen cups like giant wheels.

One tiny sweeper rode a pinecone like a scooter.

Captain Giggle laughed.

“This is the greatest clean-up ever!”

But then…

A huge gust of wind swept through the forest.

WHOOSH!

A mountain of wrappers flew into the sky.

“Oh dear,” Captain Giggle said.

The Leaf Sweepers looked up in horror.

The wrappers swirled together into a giant spinning ball.

It looked almost like a trash tornado.

Captain Giggle grinned.

“Now this is getting interesting.”

He pulled a long vine from a nearby branch.

With one silly jump and one dramatic spin, he tossed the vine upward.

The trash tornado wrapped around it.

SPIN!

SPIN!

SPIN!

The giant ball slowly lowered to the ground.

The forest grew quiet.

Then the birds began singing again.

The squirrels clapped tiny paws.

The flowers straightened happily.

Captain Giggle placed all the trash into a big wooden recycling cart.

“Nature is happiest when we leave it smiling,” he said.

The Leaf Sweepers nodded proudly.

Soon the forest looked beautiful again.

Green leaves shimmered.

The path sparkled.

The river flowed clean and clear.

Captain Giggle tipped his hat.

“Adventure complete!”

As he walked away, one little leaf creature waved.

“Will you come back tomorrow?”

Captain Giggle smiled.

“Only if the forest needs another giggle.”

And from that day on, every child who visited Sunnyleaf Forest made sure to take their trash home.
