Mira and the Gentle Glow
When the magical forest begins losing its light, a small moon moth named Mira discovers that even the gentlest glow can brighten the darkest places.

Long ago, when the stars whispered secrets to the trees and the forest glowed softly at night, a tiny moon moth named Mira lived deep in the heart of the magical woods.
Mira was different from most creatures in the forest.
While butterflies danced in the sunshine and birds sang in the bright morning air, Mira slept beneath a soft blanket of flower petals. Daytime was not her time.

But when evening came and the last golden rays of the sun slipped behind the treetops, Mira slowly opened her wings.
They were soft and silver, glowing gently like a quiet wish.
Night was when Mira felt most alive.
She fluttered through the moonlit forest visiting all her favorite places.
Sometimes she nibbled sweet moon-berries that sparkled like tiny stars.
Sometimes she danced through glowing glowshrooms, weaving figure-eights in the air.
Once she even tried racing a bat.
The bat won.
Mira got dizzy.
But even though the night forest was beautiful, Mira often felt a little lonely.
One quiet evening she sighed to a sleepy mushroom nearby.
“Why don’t I shine during the daytime like everyone else?”
The mushroom didn’t answer.
It rolled over and snored loudly.
“Snargle… marshmallow boots…” it mumbled.
Mira giggled softly, but the question stayed in her heart.
One night, while drifting through the meadow, Mira spotted something strange floating in the air.
It was a drifting dream petal.
The petal spun slowly like it was playing a game.
It shimmered and floated like a tiny balloon.
Mira fluttered after it.

” she laughed.
The petal floated farther and farther away.
Mira zipped past glowing leaves and sleepy trees as she chased it deeper into the forest than she had ever flown before.
Along the way she passed the humming flowers who sang little sleepy songs.
“Mmm-hmm-hmm…” they murmured gently.
“Goodnight, flower friends,” Mira whispered.
One flower mumbled back, half asleep.
“No bees… I’m sleeping…”
Mira continued flying.
Soon she passed the giggling brook, which bubbled with tiny jokes.
” the brook gurgled.
“Because it saw the riverbed!”
Mira smiled.
“Not bad,” she said.
She flew over bouncing lily pads that whispered softly.
“Boing… boing… boing…”
Mira tapped one with her foot.
A frog suddenly launched into the air shouting:
“Wheeee—oops!”
Plop!
Right back into the water.
Mira laughed as she continued chasing the drifting petal.
But soon something changed.
The happy sounds faded.
The air became very quiet.
Too quiet.
The flowers slowly closed their petals.
The leaves drooped.
Even the fireflies drifted away.
Mira slowed her wings.
” she whispered.
This part of the forest felt sad.
Just then she noticed a small light glowing in the distance.
It bobbed gently up and down.
” Mira wondered.
“Or a tiny star?”
She flew closer.
The glowing light was not a bug or a star.
It was a turtle with a glowing lantern on his shell.
The turtle looked up and smiled.
“Hello,” he said softly.

Mira hovered beside him.
” she asked.
Tillo looked around at the quiet trees.
“This grove used to shine,” he said.
“But the light is slowly fading.”
Mira’s wings dimmed a little.
“I only glow a tiny bit,” she said sadly.
“That might be exactly what the grove needs.”
The voice came from above.
Down swung a cheerful willow sprite on a vine.
Leaves rustled in her hair as she landed gracefully.
“I’m Whimsy,” she said with a giggle.

“I heard your wings singing.”
Mira blinked.
“My wings sing?”
Whimsy nodded.
“They hum little lullabies when you’re happy.”
Mira blushed.
“I thought that was just the breeze.”
Whimsy twirled in the air.
“Maybe flap gently,” she warned.
“The moss here is very ticklish.”
The moss wiggled and squeaked.
“Heeheehee!”
Suddenly—
KA-CHOO!

A giant sneeze exploded from the bushes in a burst of glitter.
Out rolled a chubby baby dragon.
” he announced proudly.
“I sneeze stars!”
Another sneeze burst from his nose.
KA-CHOO!
A nearby bush lit up like a birthday cake.
Whimsy clapped happily.
“You’re definitely coming with us.”
Together the four new friends walked deeper into the quiet forest.
Mira’s wings glowed softly to light the path.
Tillo’s lantern warmed the tree roots.
Whimsy hummed gentle tunes that made the leaves sway happily.
And Puffin sneezed glitter.
Lots of glitter.
Soon they reached the center of the grove.
There stood a giant crystal tree.
It was tall and beautiful.
But it had no glow.
“This must be the heart of the forest,” Mira whispered.
Whimsy nodded.
“It needs light.”
Mira looked at her tiny glowing wings.
“What if I’m not enough?”
Tillo smiled warmly.
“Then we will shine together.”
Mira fluttered forward and gently touched the crystal tree.
For a moment nothing happened.
Then—
A soft glow pulsed through the forest.
The crystals shimmered.
The trees sparkled.

The grove lit up again like a warm glowing hug.
Mira gasped.
“I didn’t know I could do that.”
Whimsy smiled.
“You could.”
“You just needed to believe.”
Tillo nodded.
“And glowing friends help too.”
Puffin sneezed again.
KA-CHOO!
A rainbow balloon with googly eyes floated into the air.
Whimsy blinked.
“…Well, that’s new.”
The grove shimmered softly once again.
Quiet.
Peaceful.
Bright.
And Mira finally understood something important.
Sometimes the gentlest glow is the one that lights the way.
