When the sun slipped behind the waves, the sea usually followed into sleep.
The water slowed.
The colors softened.
The coral lights dimmed like tiny night lamps.
But tonight, the sea was still awake… and a little restless.

Bubbles popped when they should have floated quietly.
Currents swished when they should have rested.
Coral yawned and rubbed her eyes.
“Something feels different tonight.”
“The sea sounds busy, like it forgot it’s bedtime.”
“Even my fins feel tired from listening.”
Coral swam to find her friends.
They were all there… floating… blinking… waiting for sleep that wouldn’t come.

Spike stretched very gently.

The friends stopped moving and listened carefully.

Then swished.

Together they swam to the quiet lagoon where the Old Turtle rested peacefully.
The turtle opened one sleepy eye.
“The sea listens most carefully at night,” he said in a warm voice.
“It remembers every sound it hears.”
Coral tilted her head.
“Can it learn new ones?”
The Old Turtle smiled.
“Yes.”
“Especially gentle ones.”
Coral slowly moved her tail, making the softest swish she could.
“Like this…” she whispered.
“Not fast… not loud… just enough.”
The water followed her movement, calm and smooth.
Clawdius lifted one claw carefully.
“Tap… tap…”
“I didn’t know my claws could sound so gentle.”
Spike took a deep breath in…
and slowly let it out.
“When I breathe slowly,” he said,

Mimsy hummed a tune so soft it almost sounded like a thought.
“This song isn’t for waking up…”
“It’s for floating down.”
The sound turned into glowing bubbles and drifted gently upward.
The sea listened.
The currents softened.
The bubbles floated slower and slower.
Coral smiled.
“Look… the sea is learning.”
The Old Turtle nodded slowly.
“The oldest secret of the sea is this:”
“calm is shared.”
“When one rests, others follow.”
The friends floated close together near the reef.
