Mimsy and the Not-So-Scary Dark Deep
When the ocean suddenly goes dark, Mimsy and her friends discover that the deep sea isn’t scary—it’s just full of surprising and funny lights.

In the bright, bubbly waters of Splashy Reef, everything sparkled.
Sunlight danced through the waves.
Tiny fish zipped happily.
And Mimsy loved every bit of it.
Except… one thing.
“The Deep,” Mimsy whispered.
Far below the reef, the ocean turned dark.
Very dark.

“No thank you,” Mimsy said, swimming in the opposite direction.
Coral flipped happily beside her.
“Let’s explore!”
Spike puffed up proudly.
“I am not afraid of anything!”
Clawdius clicked his claws.
“I am only afraid of… slightly large sandwiches.”
Tera slowly blinked.
“I think… we should go see it.”
Mimsy stopped.
“…The dark?”
Coral nodded.
“It might be fun!”
“…Or full of monsters,” Mimsy added.
Spike puffed bigger.
“I will scare the monsters.”
Clawdius whispered,
“What if the monsters scare us first?”
Everyone paused.
Tera smiled gently.
“We’ll go together.”
Mimsy took a deep breath.
“…Okay. But if anything says ‘boo,’ I am leaving.”
They swam downward.
The light faded.
The water turned dim.
Then darker.
Then darker.
Mimsy stayed very close to Tera.
“I cannot see anything,” she whispered.
Suddenly—
BLIP!
A tiny glowing fish lit up right in front of Spike’s face.
“AH!” Spike puffed into a ball.
The glowing fish blinked slowly.
“Hello,” it said politely.

“…You glow,” Mimsy said.
“Yes,” said the fish.
“I always glow. It helps me see.”
Clawdius blinked.
“That is actually very smart.”
They swam further.
Suddenly—
WHOOSH!
A long glowing shape floated past them.
Mimsy hid behind Coral.
“What was THAT?”
The shape wiggled back.
“I am a noodle,” it said proudly.
“…A glowing noodle?” Coral asked.
“Yes.”
“…Okay,” Coral said.
“That’s new.”
Mimsy peeked out.
The dark wasn’t empty.
It was full of glowing things.
Funny things.
Wiggly things.
Even a fish that looked like it had a tiny lamp on its head.

Spike pointed.
“That one looks like it brought its own sun!”
The fish nodded proudly.
“I did.”
Clawdius clicked excitedly.
“I like the dark.”
“It has surprises.”
Mimsy slowly swam forward.
Her eyes grew wide.
The dark wasn’t scary.
It was…
Interesting.
Colorful.
A little silly.
“I thought it would be empty,” she said softly.
Tera smiled.
“Sometimes we’re scared of what we can’t see yet.”
Mimsy nodded.
Then suddenly—
A big shadow moved behind them.
Everyone froze.
“…That is definitely a monster,” whispered Spike.
The shadow moved closer.
Bigger.
Darker.
Closer…
Closer…
Then—
“HELLO!”
A giant glowing jellyfish lit up the entire space like a floating chandelier.

Everyone blinked.
“…Oh,” said Mimsy.
“That is not a monster.”
The jellyfish smiled.
“I am very friendly.”
Clawdius laughed.
“I almost screamed.”
Spike whispered,
“I almost… slightly screamed.”
Mimsy giggled.
Then laughed.
Then laughed more.
“I was scared of THIS?” she said.
The deep glowed softly around them.
Lights floating everywhere.
Shapes dancing in the dark.
Mimsy spun happily.
“The dark is not scary!”
“It’s just hiding fun things!”
Tera nodded.
“And now you know.”
They swam back toward the bright reef.
The sunlight returned.
The colors sparkled again.
Mimsy smiled.
“Next time… I’m exploring first.”
Spike puffed proudly.
“I was brave the whole time.”
Clawdius clicked.
“You screamed at a fish.”
“…It surprised me,” Spike said.
And from that day on, whenever the deep looked dark…
Mimsy didn’t see fear.
She saw adventure waiting to glow.
