One sunny morning, Captain Giggle zoomed through Tippy-Town on his usual hero rounds.
The baker waved him a fresh bun. The postman caught his flapping cape. Old Mrs. Plum untangled his boot from her rose bush — again.
At the corner, Momo the Monkey was waiting with two banana smoothies.
And suddenly, Captain Giggle stopped so fast his cape flew over his head.
“Momo!” he gasped from inside the cape. “Everyone helps ME. All day! And I never say the magic words!”
“Abraca-dabra?” guessed Momo.
“No! THANK YOU!”
Captain Giggle burst out of his cape with a grin as wide as the town square.
“Momo — we are going to invent a brand-new holiday. THANK-YOU DAY!”
So the two friends got to work.
They cut out golden cards. They drew wobbly hearts. Momo licked seventy-three envelopes and made a face like a squished lemon. BLEH!
Then they marched through Tippy-Town, delivering thank-yous to EVERYONE.
“Thank you for the buns!” HONK!
“Thank you for catching my cape!” HONK-HONK!
“Thank you, Mrs. Plum, for un-rose-bushing my boot!”
Mrs. Plum laughed so hard her hat spun around.
And a funny thing happened.
Every single person who got a thank-you… smiled like the sun.
The baker gave the postman a free bun. The postman helped Mrs. Plum water her roses. The whole town turned warm and giggly at once.
“Captain,” whispered Momo, “I think thank-yous might be contagious.”
“The BEST kind of contagious!” said Captain Giggle.
Then Momo tapped his shoulder and handed him one last golden card.
It said: *Thank you for being my best friend.*
Captain Giggle sniffled. He smiled. And then he laughed his biggest, warmest laugh ever —
HA-HA-HOOO!
— which, everyone agrees, is exactly how Thank-You Day should end.
