The Robo Jungle was going quiet.

One by one, the little bots dimmed their lights for the night.

“Power-down time,” said Zara-Bot softly. “Rest your systems, everyone.”

But Tink-Unit was still glowing bright.

BZZT. BZZT. His lights blinked fast, fast, fast.

“I can’t power down,” he beeped. “What if I miss something?”

1

Sparkleaf landed beside him with a gentle flutter. “Nothing to miss, little friend. The jungle is only sleeping.”

Tink-Unit’s fans whirred quickly. WHIRR-WHIRR-WHIRR.

Zara-Bot rolled close. “Let’s slow your systems, one step at a time.”

“First, dim your lights. Just one soft glow.”

Tink-Unit dimmed… until only a tiny blue light remained. Mmm. Softer already.

“Now, slow your beeps,” said Zara. “Let them out slow and long.”

Beep… beeep… beeeeep.

Rex-0 lowered his big head and began to hum. A deep, low, rumbly hum. HMMMMM.

It sounded like a lullaby made of gears.

2

Sparkleaf whispered, “Count the glow-moths with me. One… two… three…”

Tink-Unit watched them drift, tiny and golden, through the dark leaves.

His fast thoughts grew slow.

His bright lights grew soft.

His quick beeps grew long.

“Oh,” he yawned, a small crackly yawn. “Resting feels… nice.”

“The jungle will still be here in the morning,” said Zara. “And so will we.”

Tink-Unit settled against Rex-0’s warm, humming side.

CLICK. His last little light blinked off.

3

And under the glowing star-bolts, the whole Robo Jungle powered down—cozy, quiet, and safe—until morning.

The end — read another?

What Kids Learn

  • A busy, buzzing mind can be slowed down one small step at a time
  • Dimming lights, slowing your breathing, and quieting sounds help your body get ready for sleep
  • It’s normal to worry about “missing something” at bedtime—and okay to rest anyway
  • Calm friends and a soothing voice can help you settle
  • The world will still be there in the morning
  • Rest is something your body needs, not something to fight

Parents Corner

This gentle Robo Jungle story reframes bedtime resistance in a way little ones understand: Tink-Unit isn’t “being difficult,” he’s simply wound up and afraid of missing out. Watching him power down step by step—softer lights, slower beeps, a rumbly lullaby—gives children a concrete, repeatable routine for calming a busy mind.

It’s especially good for kids who struggle to switch off at night or feel anxious at lights-out. Read it slowly; the one-line rhythm is designed to lower the energy in the room as you go.

Meet the Characters

Common Questions

Is this a good bedtime story?
Yes—it’s written specifically to wind children down. The pace slows on purpose, and it ends with everyone cozy and asleep, making it ideal for the last story before lights-out.
What age is it for?
It’s aimed at children ages 3–8. Younger toddlers enjoy the soothing sounds and repetition, while older kids connect with Tink-Unit’s worry about missing out.
How long does it take to read?
About 2 minutes read aloud at a calm, gentle pace—perfect when you want a short, settling story rather than a long adventure.
Do we need to read the other Robo Jungle stories first?
Not at all. It stands completely on its own, though you’ll meet the same friendly cast—Zara-Bot, Sparkleaf, Rex-0, and Tink-Unit—across the collection.
Is it scary?
No. There’s no danger or villain—just a little robot who’s too excited to sleep, and the friends who gently help him rest.
Does it teach anything?
Yes. It models a simple self-calming routine—dim the lights, slow your breathing, quiet the sounds—that children can use at their own bedtime.
Can I use it to build a bedtime routine?
Absolutely. Many parents reread the “power-down” steps as a nightly ritual, turning Tink-Unit’s routine into their child’s.
